Glossary

Plain-language meanings for market terms, wallet actions, and labels on the site.

Active

A market status badge. An active market can still have limits or settings that prevent a particular action.

Allowance

The amount of a token that a specified contract is permitted to spend from an account. An existing allowance may remain after a later action fails.

APYAnnual percentage yield

Annual percentage yield: a rate expressed over one year with compounding included. It is not a guaranteed return.

Arrow Down

The down-arrow key. On a help trigger, it can move focus into the open explanation.

Available liquidityBorrow liquidity

Market funds currently available for use. ur position and the market's limits still determine what u can borrow or withdraw.

Base borrow rateBase rate

The Hub's starting borrowing rate for an asset, before any position-specific risk premium.

Borrow

Sends the chosen token to ur wallet and creates debt backed by eligible collateral.

Borrow APY

The displayed yearly cost of borrowing. Interest increases the debt, and the rate can change.

Borrow cap remaining

Unused room under the displayed borrowing limit. u still need sufficient collateral and available market funds.

Borrowable in this Spoke

Related assets offered for borrowing in that Spoke. The list does not confirm ur account is eligible to borrow them.

Borrowed assets

The table of the selected account's debt, shown by token amount and estimated dollar value.

Borrowing capacity

How much additional borrowing the market reports it can support under its limits. ur own position can allow less.

Borrowing powerBorrowing power left

An estimate of how much borrowing the position can support. Borrowing power left accounts for existing debt; it is not the market's available funds.

Cap headroom

Room left before a market reaches a configured limit. For a cap of 1,000 and current use of 800, headroom is 200.

Close

Dismisses the open explanation or panel. It does not reverse a confirmed transaction.

Collateral

Eligible supplied assets enabled to support borrowing. These assets can be taken during liquidation if the position no longer meets its requirements.

Collateral factor

The proportion of an asset's value counted when calculating collateral. At 75%, $100 of eligible value counts as $75.

Collateral riskCollateral risk weight

A protocol-assigned weight used in calculating borrowing premiums. It is not a probability of losing money or a final interest rate.

Compounding

Interest building on previously accumulated interest as well as the starting amount.

Confirm borrow in wallet

Starts the wallet request for the reviewed borrow. Borrowing creates debt in the position.

Confirm supply in wallet

Starts the wallet requests for the reviewed supply. Read each request before accepting it.

Connect or watch

Opens the choice between connecting a signing wallet and viewing an address's public information.

Connected

A wallet has shared an account with the site. Transactions still require their own wallet confirmation.

Connected Hub

The Hub associated with the displayed route or Spoke connection.

Credit lineCredit-line

A limit on how much a Spoke may draw from a Hub for an asset. It applies to the market, not to ur personal wallet.

Enable this supply as collateral

The supply-form checkbox that lets an eligible new supply support borrowing. It starts off on the main site.

ENS

Ethereum Name Service: names such as example.eth that can resolve to an Ethereum address.

Enter

The keyboard key used to activate a focused link or button.

ERC-20

A common Ethereum token standard that defines functions such as transfers and spending approvals.

Escape

The keyboard key used to dismiss an open explanation or panel.

ETH

Ether, Ethereum's native asset. It pays transaction fees on Ethereum.

Ethereum address

The public identifier of an Ethereum account. u can view its public activity without having permission to spend its funds.

Fork

A local copy of a blockchain's state used for testing. Actions on this practice copy do not change the live Ethereum network.

Gas

The work needed to process a blockchain transaction. Fees use ETH on Ethereum and OP Mainnet, or AVAX on Avalanche, separately from the action token.

Guides

The beginner reading library explaining the site's numbers and actions.

Health factorHealth-factor

A comparison of counted collateral to debt. Below 1, a position can be liquidated. Prices and interest can change this number.

HubHubs

The part of Aave V4 that manages shared liquidity and accounting. Connected Spokes use that liquidity under the Hub's limits.

Liquidation

When a liquidator repays eligible debt and receives collateral, including a bonus. The borrower loses that collateral.

Liquidity

Funds available in a market. Available liquidity means funds that have not already been used and can potentially serve an action.

LOCAL TEST MODE

The banner identifying the separate local practice site. Use Local test mode in the network selector for instructions; live-network transactions still use real funds.

Local transaction history

The record of actions submitted to the local practice chain. These transactions do not appear on Ethereum Etherscan.

Lowest health factor

The smallest health-factor value among the portfolio's active borrowing positions. Check the individual positions to see which one it describes.

Manage positions

The Portfolio area with entry points for repaying debt and withdrawing supplied tokens.

Market routes

The combinations of token, Spoke, and Hub available for an action. The same token can have several routes with different rules.

Markets

The page for browsing Hubs, Spokes, assets, and market conditions.

More details

Opens the guide linked to Ronnie's current explanation.

Net APY

A position's combined annualized rate, accounting for its supply and borrowing. It is a rate, not profit already received.

Net balanceNet position

Supplied value minus borrowed value in the displayed positions. Tokens held separately in the wallet are not part of this figure.

No debt

There is no borrowing balance for the displayed calculation. This is different from a health factor of zero.

No matching balances

No supported token-route match was found in the returned data. This does not mean the account owns no assets.

No samples

There are no history values available to draw in that chart. It does not indicate a measured zero.

Not configured

That wallet connector has not been set up for this site. Use an available connector or watch an address.

On this page

Links to sections within the guide u are reading.

Opportunities

The page matching the selected account's wallet tokens to available routes. Its listings are comparisons, not recommendations.

Other wallet tokens

Wallet balances for which the explorer did not find a supported market route.

Portfolio

The selected account's supplied positions and debt on the markets covered by this explorer.

PositionPositions

An account's supplied assets and debt within a market. One account can have separate positions in multiple Spokes.

Preview transaction

Checks the proposed action and shows its estimated effect before the main transaction is sent.

Protocol

The set of contracts and rules that runs a service such as Aave. The explorer is an interface for reading data and requesting actions from those contracts.

Protocol borrowed

The amount borrowed across the market shown. It includes other accounts, so it is different from what ur account owes.

Reduced motion

A device or browser preference that asks sites to limit animation. This explorer reduces Ronnie's movement when it is enabled.

Refresh balances

Reloads the explorer to request current data. A recent transaction may take time to appear in indexed balances.

Repay

Uses tokens from ur wallet to reduce debt in the selected position.

Repay all

An option in the local practice lab to repay the full test debt. The main site uses an entered amount.

Reserve

An asset's market configuration and accounting within a Spoke. Its settings can restrict which actions are available.

Reset test funds

Restores disposable balances in the local practice environment so u can repeat the exercises.

Retry

Reloads the page after a data error. It does not automatically repeat a wallet transaction.

Review

Opens the action drawer for the selected route. Opening it does not move tokens.

Risk premiumRisk-premium

Additional borrowing interest linked to collateral risk. A premium percentage scales base interest accumulation; it is not automatically that many percentage points of APY.

Risk premium after

The estimated risk premium for the position after the action u are previewing.

Risk-premium threshold

A Hub limit on a Spoke's premium exposure relative to its base borrowing exposure. It is not the point where ur loan starts charging extra interest.

Seed phrase

The secret recovery words for a wallet. They can give control of its accounts; the local lab does not need them.

Smart contract

A program stored on the blockchain that runs the rules for an action when called.

Snapshot

A saved state of the local practice chain that the lab can return to after testing an action.

SpokeSpokes

A market connected to Hub liquidity, with its own rules for user positions. Users supply and borrow through Spokes.

Spoke borrowed

The total borrowed across a Spoke, including other users' debt.

Spoke supplied

The total supplied across a Spoke, including other users' positions.

Supplied balance

Tokens already placed into a market. They must be withdrawn before they become available in the wallet again.

Supply

Moves the chosen token from ur wallet into the selected market after the transaction confirms.

Supply APY

The displayed yearly earning rate for supplied tokens, including the calculation's compounding. The rate can change.

Supply cap reached

Supply has reached the configured limit, leaving no room for additional supply under that cap.

Supply cap remaining

Unused room under the displayed supply limit. Other market rules can still prevent a supply.

Supply capacity

How much additional supply the market reports it can accept. This is a market limit, not ur wallet balance.

Supply disabled

The route's settings currently prevent a new supply.

Switch to EthereumSwitch to Avalanche, Switch to OP Mainnet

Asks the wallet to change to the named network. The same control names Avalanche or OP Mainnet when selected. Switching networks does not perform the token action.

Tab

The keyboard key that moves focus between links and controls. Shift+Tab moves backward.

Target health factor

A Spoke setting used to calculate how much debt a liquidation should repay. It is different from ur current health factor.

TokenTokens

A digital asset recorded on a blockchain. Check the specific asset and network before entering an amount.

Token units

An amount of the token itself, such as 10 USDC or 0.5 WETH, rather than its estimated dollar value.

Token-spending approval

Permission for a contract to spend a particular token up to an allowance. Approval is a separate step from supplying or repaying.

Total borrowed

All borrowed value in the displayed scope. A market total includes borrowing by other accounts.

Total supplied

All supplied value in the displayed scope, such as a Hub or Spoke. Check the heading to see which market the total covers.

Opens the transaction receipt so u can check the submitted action and its result.

Wallet

An app or device that manages accounts and lets u approve transactions. Connecting a wallet is different from approving a payment or loan.

Wallet balance

Tokens held in the selected account, outside its supplied positions. A wallet balance does not subtract outstanding loans.

Watching

The explorer is showing an address's public data. Watching does not allow it to sign transactions for that address.

WETH

Wrapped Ether: ETH represented as an ERC-20 token. WETH and the ETH used to pay gas appear as separate balances.

Withdraw

Returns supplied tokens to ur wallet, subject to available liquidity and the position's collateral requirements.

Withdraw all

An option in the local practice lab to request the full test supply. Position and liquidity checks still apply.
